Elite Services were contacted by a local business located on an industrial estate in Belfast. This company sought to improve their overall security and had definitive security objectives to meet, including the full upgrade of its existing CCTV operation. 

Crime was escalating, with breaks-ins, vandalism, and theft on the rise in the local area. After several businesses were broken into, this company decided to improve security measures. With expensive machinery, stock and IT equipment within their facility, this particular business needed a more proactive approach to security.

As an NSI accredited installer and accredited Hikvision partner, Elite has designed and installed a large range of CCTV surveillance systems at industrial units across Northern Ireland. We felt that our security industry experience could really help protect this customer’s assets and secure premises.

Technical audit: CCTV system design & recommendations

Our sales consultant completed a detailed and comprehensive site survey of the whole facility, including the existing system and cabling. This survey revealed the site’s main issues were cable segregation, low density analogue camera images and outdated 240 volt supply systems.

We recommended a full rewire with Cat6 Cable, camera, and an upgrade of the system. In our report, we provided clearly defined explanations of the root problems to the client. We offered competitive quotations for the work required to upgrade and improve the current CCTV system. Our report included a fully transparent proposal and planned CCTV locations with our internal software package.

Following the acceptance of our proposal, Elite Services designed and installed a new high definition quality IP CCTV system. This included fully segregated cables eliminating the interference, improved image display, and higher grade cat6 POE cabling, which eliminated the mains electricity supply issues.

We also installed a new Hikvision Server with integrated intelligent analytic motion detection software. This software reduces false alarm activations to the alarm receiving centre/ Monitoring station.

External IP CCTV cameras were installed to monitor all areas around and approaching the main building and car park. Furthermore, 8mp Colorvu IP cameras were deployed to provide coverage of key areas around the site perimeter. Utilising Colorvu meant improving the likelihood of capturing a number plate or face during the evening as Colorvu offers full colour images at night and during low light. Additional internal cameras were fitted to monitor for employee-related incidents and potential theft.

Elite Services recommended a video surveillance system comprising of:

• 8x external IP Bullet Cameras ( 8MP ColorVu Fixed Bullet Network Camera, Built-in microphone, 2.8mm lens, 12 VDC ± 25%/PoE, 3 year warranty.)
• 4x internal IP Turret Cameras (4 MP ColorVu + Acusense Fixed Turret Network Camera, Built-in microphone, 2.8mm, 12 VDC ± 25%, PoE, 3 year warranty.)
• 1x 8TB Hard drive to store images locally for a rolling 30days
• 1x 16 Channel Network Video Recorder (Or 32 Channel to offer the opportunity to scale the system)
• 1x 8 Port Gigabit Managed POE Switch
• 305m Cat6 External Cable

CCTV surveillance systems: Project outcome

Elite Services Security & Facilities Management deployed a team of experienced CCTV systems engineers to deliver this project. The system was fitted on time and to the agreed budget.

The new CCTV system provides high-definition video footage and a far superior retention period allowing the customer to review as far back as three months.

Elite monitors this system externally via a central CCTV monitoring station between 5:00pm and 8:00am. This offers added security because, as a business owner, there is often a continual worry of someone breaking into your property. Few things are more frustrating than watching people breaking into your business as you review your footage from your CCTV.

With our alarm receiving centre service, you can eliminate these worries. We use your new or existing CCTV cameras to stop the damage before it is done. We can protect any commercial property, and special in high-risk premises such as manufacturing facilities, construction sites, petrol stations and car dealerships, to name a few. As soon as an intrusion zone has been activated, the centre is automatically alerted to take action on your behalf.

All external areas of the site are covered by IP CCTV cameras offering crystal clear footage. As an added feature, you can also view footage 24/7 365. With an industry leading application to HIK Connect, you’ll be able to see footage year round. Furthermore, you can also have your key management team set as Admin to view or monitor.
